Prime minister Stephen Harper surprised the audience of a National Arts Centre Gala in Ottawa by going up on stage and playing the piano and singing a Beatles song, alongside famous cellist Yo-Yo Ma. Recently, he had angered some in the arts community over cuts to some arts projects, and by suggesting that many Canadians don't "sympathize with artists seeking funds to support such galas".
