The Parliamentary Budget Office (PBO) declared today that the Conservative government's estibmate of the proposed Liberal plan to standardize EI qualifications across the country was grossly over-stated. The government had pegged teh cost of reform EI qualifications at 360 hours at $4 billion while the PBO has declared the Liberals' cost analysis of roughly $1.1 billion as a "reasonable estimate". Now it is up to the government to follow-up on its promise to deliver EI reforms in the coming week when the parliamentary session resumes.
